I read this article about incentivized voting. The man who wrote it, Mr. Ted Kucinich, is against paying voters money to vote.
One idea that I have to increase voter turnout here in Cambridge is to have elections in 2018, 2020, etc. Currently, the local elections are on odd years.
The voter turnout at the presidential level is ~55%, and for mid-term elections, they're more like 35%, and for local elections on odd years, they're more like ~25% here in Cambridge.
Why can't my local elections be held on EVEN years and not on ODD years (like the way they are held in Cambridge, MA)? My opinion is that moving our local elections to even years would increase the turnout from 25% to 35%.
