Trump’s tax scam is costing those in the 99% who pay income tax $5,000/y on average for programs they don’t use. That money benefits the 1%, those making over $1.3 million.

The federal poverty level is $ 24,600 for a family of 4.

Consider that Trump's tax scam ensures $ 9.5 trillion in cumulative defects over the next decade. That means on average that those in the 99% who pay income tax are out $ 5,000/y that they don't benefit from. For many their share of that will put them under the line. For others it brings it closer, or unfortunately put it even farther above them.

There's 99m residents who pay federal income tax. So there's a hit of $ 9,600/y from that. Not counting the $ 1,600 (17%) that will go to the 99%, the TCJA will cost average taxpayers $ 8,000/y. Since 37% is paid for by the 1% (wouldn't it be nice if such income was better distributed), the rest end up paying $ 5,000 in yearly tribute to the 1%: Those making over $ 1.3m (with half of that going to those who make over $ 5m). That's nearly $ 14 day (weekends & holidays included).

Such funds would help millions in their fight against poverty. America has:

  • ~40 million in poverty
  • 18.5 million in extreme poverty
  • 5.3 million in 3rd world conditions of absolute poverty
  • The highest youth poverty rate among OECD countries
  • The highest infant mortality rates among comparable OECD states
  • Shorter and sicker lifespans than all other rich democracies
  • Eradicable tropical diseases that are increasingly prevalent
  • The world's highest incarceration rate
  • One of the lowest levels of voter registrations in among OECD countries
  • The highest rate of income inequality among Western countries

June 2018 report of the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights on his mission to the United States of America

Btw that is the report that caused the US to back out of the Human Right's council.

It's easier to lean into civic effort than to not. Get to work or get got.

Now is the time to keep up the pressure on decision-makers. Don't let the Democratic establishment push the DNC into backing down on superdelegate reform. There is a DNC meeting on superdelegate reform in Providence, RI, that's open to the public on Friday. Those within a reasonable drive may wish to attend to make their opinion known.

Bernie had a tremendous following on Reddit. The folks on Reddit raised over $1m for the campaign. The discussions on Reddit helped keep our most active online supporters engaged and up-to-date on campaign developments. They provided a big morale boost to those of us on the campaign. -Jeff Weaver
